SESSHOMARU
Age: 500+ he's possibly older, but he only knows his true age.
Gender: male.
Orientation: heterosexual; he's not really interested in any sort of "relationship." you'd really have to capture his attention to get him to be interested in someone.
Race: inuyōkai (dog demon)
Occupation: daiyōkai (demon lord)/wanderer
Looks Aren't Everything
Birthmark(s): he has two magenta stripes on each side of his cheek, as well as a magenta strip above his top eye-lid. the crescent shaped mark on his head is due to his family's stature. it represents his family, and the house of the crescent moon. they're not visible, but there are other magenta stripes along his body, though the most visible are the ones on his cheeks and wrists.
Scar(s): since he heals without any marks, he has none except for the one he got from his father. it was before inuyasha was born, and inu no tashio was with inuyasha's human mother. sesshomaru believed he could beat his father, but he ended up with a large scar near his hip-bone that never disappeared. it will always be a reminded that he was not stronger than his father (which he still tries to achieve).
Appearance: sesshomaru's appearance makes girls more envious of his beauty than attracted. he has such long flowing silver hair that looks almost like silk - like there isn't any knots in it. his skin looks as if it were carved from ivory, being very pale and smooth as though it has no flaws. but don't think that his appearance effects how he acts, for he acts very much like a male. his calm and collected masculine attitude very much explain to everyone that he is a male, and his deep voice provides to that as well. despite him looking very slender and skinny, beneath his large garments are lean muscles from all the walking, the fights, and the exercise he ensues.
his eyes are a striking gold color that he shares with his brother, inuyasha. they can either be very cold or very compassionate, but it depends on who you're talking about. though his face is beautiful, it doesn't betray any of his emotions. he keeps them all bottled up because he believes them to be weak. when he walks, he walks as though he has no care in the world. it's almost as if he's floating, walking elegantly like the lord he is. the white fur that hangs around him is called "moko-sama" which becomes a part of his fur in true form.
when he's in true form, he's a frightening sight to behold, a large dog demon that is quite powerful. the two magenta marks on his face shift to and create an almost out-line of his jaw. there are times when sesshomaru is in almost in true form, where his eyes glisten a blood-red, his fangs become longer, and so does his ears.
What's Beneath the Skin
Personality: sesshomaru is incredibly hard to describe. he wears a facade of no emotion, which most people probably find intimidating. they taunt and tease him to try and get some emotion out of there, but it always ends up in failure. he's very calculating, so usually when he's in a battle and hasn't spoken, he's probably already figured out a way to kill you. he is very ambitious, and he doesn't like it when people get in his way. but despite that, he speaks almost like an aristocratic person. he is very elegant with his words, and he's very honorable (unless it has something to do with his goal). he was raised from two demons who very respected and powerfully.
but beneath all that, he is actually a very compassionate demon who protects rin as if she's his daughter. he will not let anyone touch her (unless he knows they won't hurt her, but even then he's cautious), and he gets her things when ever she needs them. he will cook her food since she can't do it on her own. since she had been beaten as a child, he looks after her quite often. kohaku, sango's little brother, has even got a little bit of compassion from sesshomaru. he is some-what fond of the boy for protecting rin, playing with her, and even helping her.
Strengths: - calculation
- cunning
- daunting
- merciless
- uncaring
- fighting
- taunting people
- perceptive
- alert of surroundings and people
- manipulation
Weaknesses: - rin
- inuyasha - (i feel the need to explain this one) he has never managed to fully kill his brother, and it's not because of the sword their father had given him. he just sometimes pities his brother, therefore making him unable to kill him. there are times when he would really wish to kill inuyasha, to finally get rid of the mutt where he stands, but something always gets in the way.
- family
- very curious
- arrogant
- anger
- loud noises
Fears: - losing rin
- loving a human as his father did (which is why he despises
inuyasha's affections toward kagome), and why he makes himself distant with rin sometimes.
- being unaware of the future
- it's hard to explain this, but he hates the thought of dying. he doesn't mind the pain, but he doesn't wish to die. he'll give his surprisingly give his life for rin, since most of his enemies use her against him. what i'm trying to say is he fears the concept of death, the thought of what would happen after it
Being a Part of Me
Items: none
Weapons:- tenseiga (heavenly sword):: the sword from his father, able to bring back the dead. his father had given both his sons the sword so that it would be nearly impossible to kill each other. the sword keeps sesshomaru from dying, and the tetsusaiga to keep inuyasha from becoming a wild full-demon.
- bakusaiga :: it was forged from sesshomaru's body, and the first not to be made from a fang.
- claws :: his claws have the ability to produce very deadly acid.
- whip of light :: he creates a whip of energy that can nearly cut through anything.
Abilities: poison claws: have the ability to produce deadly acid from his nails.
whip of light: able to produce some form of energy that can nearly cut through anything.
dragon strike: a very powerful blow from the tokijin.
flight: he can create some form of cloud that he can stand on.
teleportation: he can often travel in a ball of light, and move over great distances in a short amount of time.
psionics: it's not really sure whether he has it or not, but he may have the ability of telepathy and telekinesis. he can levitate, and often throw things without touching them. it's not to a great extent though, and its rarely ever used.
Flaws: sesshomaru is not perfect. he does get quite tired from fighting with the bakusaiga for it draws a lot of his power from him (since it draws from his demon energy and power), therefore any means of other abilities is probably a rare thing to behold when he's holding the sword. but even when he's not, it takes a lot of concentration to teleport and psionics, so he doesn't use them that often. the poison in his claws really has no draw-backs because it's more of a defense mechanism than anything. his resistance to poison started at a young age when the acid in his claws started.
From Whence I Came
Family: ino no tashio (father) unknown (mother) inuyasha (half-brother) ah-un (pet)
History: "you have become weak, boy." "i'm trying, father."
it was a very long time ago when sesshomaru was born, and he was born into a time where humans were just beginning to rise to become a threat to demons. they were killing off the lesser of the demons, the ones that crawled around the forest at night without a care, attacking innocent humans as they hiked through the path. It probably deserved to die, yes, but it angered much of the higher demons.
sesshomaru was born into this time, but far away where nothing of destruction could reach his ears. but sesshomaru caused his own destruction in the house of the western lands, out of jealousy and rage that his father did not act as sesshomaru thought a father should. sesshomaru's mother was a powerful demon, as strict as she was beautiful, and she did not show emotion for the mate of the great dog demon was not suppose to. but she loved her mate with all her heart, although she was never able to show it, and she loved her son quite as much. but she did not know how to express any of this, and at most times acted as if she did not care at all.
sesshomaru had loved his mother despite all of it, but his father he despised. he would come home to his "family" (sesshomaru would use a different word), only to go do some work in his room, and if sesshomaru wanted his father to teach him something it seemed as if he had been asking "too" much. it all angered sesshomaru, as if his father was embarrassed to look upon him. inu no tashio was not ashamed of his son - it was quite the opposite, really, for he was very proud - but he was jealous of him. there would be times where his mate would show his son affection that she had never shown him. it was just a tiny gesture, like when she would push sesshomaru's hair from his face to get it out of his eyes, or order him to eat his food when he refused to do it. it was all signs of love for her son. but what of him? she acted cold to him in bed, and had never treated him as a loved one should.
one day sesshomaru watched as his father left a midnight to go on some other "affair" he had to deal with. he couldn't sleep that night, and hadn't been able to for quite a long time. he didn't get a good night's rest until his mother came in and chided him for being so childish. your father will come home, she has said, and he will praise you for all the hard work you've been doing. all that hard work was training, and train hard he did. at a young age he had become very powerful, and had techniques his father had never had. sesshomaru was very intent on demanding that his father fight him - to see who was the strongest in the house.
"do you intend on going to fight, father?" "do you intend to stop me, sesshomaru?"
when his father came back, he seemed a bit more light in his footsteps. he was considerate in his words, kind to the guards, and it made sesshomaru suspicious. but with his suspicion put behind him, sesshomaru went to find his father and demand a fight. his father looked at him calmly, stare just for a little bit, and then told sesshomaru that he wasn't ready. he got so angry that he threw things around in his father's office before leaving.
he went to go talk to his mother about it, but she was being much distant than usual. it appeared she looked very sad for one moment, and then it was gone the next. sesshomaru had tried to console her, but he only got shot down in the end. this is how it went for a while, and sesshomaru had no clue as to what to do. his mother was being distant, and his father was being "happy".
however, one morning sesshomaru went to go visit his mother again. when he opened the door, he found no one in the room that was perfectly cleaned as if no one had been living in it. distraught with rage, knowing that it was his father who had done this, he stormed into his father's office and demanded that he fight him this time or else he'd kill him. sesshomaru's father was angry that day for some reason, so in the heat of the moment he said yes.
sesshomaru ended up losing with a rather large scar near his hip that wouldn't heal properly. surprisingly (to sesshomaru), his father stayed to take care of him with a healer at his side. sesshomaru never spoke to his father during this, and instead stared at the ceiling each time they came in.
"tell me, sesshomaru, do you have someone to protect?" "no. this sesshomaru has no need of such."
sesshomaru's father was set to leave again, and he was intent on following. he didn't care that if anything sudden happened his wound would open. he followed his father (unaware that his father knew of such deeds), wondering why in the world was he so eager to get to where ever he was going. it took a while to finally reach the place, and upon reaching it sesshomaru's was very confused. it was a large castle - a human castle that looked as if it were in chaos. there were men burning down houses, and some heading up to the castle.
inu no tashio stayed upon a hill to look at it, and then he turned around to face sesshomaru as he stepped out from the forest. the first thing that his father asked him was "do you have someone to protect?", and that question had been haunting sesshomaru forever. then his father looked to the castle and stared at it for a long time. sesshomaru grew angry that he wasn't getting his father's attention, and he unsheathed his sword that was knocked out of his hand as soon as he did.
"how could you father?" those words were spat from sesshomaru's lips as soon as the realization had dawned on him. his father was in love, and he was in love with a human. sesshomaru stood tall as his father pointed his sword to his chest, staring at him coldly with familiar gold eyes that sesshomaru unfortunately got. he told sesshomaru that he had a half-brother, and he'd be damned if he did anything to him. sesshomaru, though, didn't pay attention because he knew if his father left something would obviously happen to him. but his father turned and jumped down from the hill without a word, leaving sesshomaru to stare hopelessly.
the chaos grew in the castle, and sesshomaru was trying to find his father amidst it all. but all he found was this beautiful human, carrying a baby in her hands that smelled familiar to him. he stopped the woman in her tracks, and he smelled her fear rising up at the sight of him. "you..." she murmured.
"what is the child's name?" he inquired calmly as he took a step forward, watching in satisfaction as she clutch his "half-brother" closer to her chest.
"inuyasha..."
that was really all sesshomaru needed, and his face grew cold. it hid his disgust and anger, but as his father had told him not to he didn't harm the baby. instead he left the woman there to find her own rescue.
that's how sesshomaru was from now on, wandering around by himself for hundreds of years. he grew powerful by age, intelligent by the years, and humans and demons alike began to fear him. he didn't really know what he was searching for, wandering around like this, and he didn't care. perhaps he was in search for the swords his father left behind, which he had eventually found out that it was no his in the end.
in a battle between inuyasha, he had gotten hurt and he teleported himself far away from the bastard mutt. a girl had made her way to find him, and he couldn't do anything to send her away. but one day the girl had been attacked, and sesshomaru smelled her blood from where he laid healing against the tree. there was an anger in him he didn't know what was for, and when he came upon rin it settled into pity. he took out his tenseiga and brought her back to life.
she followed him after that, and didn't speak for a long time. it was probably because she had been emotionally - and physically - scarred that she had no words to say. but eventually she wouldn't shut up, and sesshomaru didn't seem to mind in the least. but through his travelings, his attachment for rin grew and he became very protective. he set his sights on naraku to kill him for taking rin, using her against sesshomaru. he soon learned that there was also demon lords rising up to fight against each other, which he found quite idiotic to be honest. it seemed like history was going to end up repeating itself, and they had no clue what the hell they were doing. he is bitter toward the war because of his father, but the slavery of humans he doesn't matter too much. but if anyone comes to rin threatening to put her into any kind of containment, he'll probably start caring.
How You Play
RP Sample: Rin was playing in the flowers fields again, giggling away without a care in the world. Sesshomaru's gold eyes watched her from where he was standing, at the edge of the forest beside Ah-Un and Jaken, and quietly deciding on what to do. Rin was getting older now, and eventually she would leave him. It never occurred to him on what he should do when she got older, because it would be strange for Lord Sesshomaru to be walking around with a human female at his side as if he actually cared. It was already strange enough to be letting her stay with him as a child, but it would be curious to see Sesshomaru with a adult female walking around. He would be much like his brother if he let that happen.
However, that wasn't the real reason and Sesshomaru knew that. Rin would want to leave him when she got older (he thinks), for she is a human girl and she'd want to have a family. She would wish to go to a village, find some disgusting man to mate with, and they'd have little pups. She would look at him, her eyes wide and full of an adult intelligence, and ask to be released to live amongst the humans. To be honest, Sesshomaru didn't know how he would react to it. He was use to Rin following him around as if there was nothing else in the world, obeying everything he said, and those innocent little things she did. No matter how much people didn't believe it, she was his ward in a way, and he protected her as a father should. He would probably be bitter at her leaving, and cut down her precious humans because he wasn't sure if he wanted her to leave.
No. No, that wasn't Sesshomaru at all, and he didn't want Rin thinking she was doing wrong. He would nod and tell her she had his permission, and he would watch her leave him for those vile humans at the end of the hill. She wouldn't know that he didn't want her to leave, and she definitely wouldn't know that he would never come to see her again. He couldn't keep coming back to the village in hopes of seeing her, because he was a powerful, dangerous demon that had destroyed many villages without a care. They'd look at him in fear, and then try to kill him as they always did. He wouldn't see Rin ever again if she left him, which she had to know deep down. There was no one who knew him better than Rin, and he had come to terms with that a while ago.
He knew caring for the girl as a daughter was something he utterly hated deep down. He was bitter at himself for actually caring for a human, as he said he would never do. In the end, he hated himself because he knew that he was just like his father, and one day Rin will be the death of him as InuYasha's mother had been the death of his father. He was a brooding demon that showed none of his emotions - no one knew what was going on through that terribly blank facade of his. There had been demons that claimed (such as Naraku) they knew what he was thinking, feeling, and Sesshomaru knew it was a lie. Naraku was a fool and he always would be, no matter how hard he tried to become the most powerful thing out there.
Sesshomaru also knew that there were demon lords rising up now, and they were much powerful than Naraku could ever hope to be. But since they were being idiotic, the demon lords were fighting against each other and that meant a distraction. The sniveling little ball of disgust would find a way to get in between the two, and control them. At least, Naraku would try to get in between them, but Sesshomaru even doubted that the foul man would manage to even do that.
He was suddenly tired of just standing there, and he turned around to start walking back to the path they were previously on. "Come Jaken..." said Sesshomaru. His voice was monotonous - deep, calming, intriguing in the way a bird with a broken wing intrigues a child. It held danger to it, a certain threat that was unavoidable, but also something deeper. The emotionless tone - meant to hide his feelings - only proved to show he had something to hide. No one had ever noticed it, but Jaken did understand that the threat was hidden underneath it all, and he scrambled to his feet.
"Come, Rin, you foolish girl!"
"No, Jaken," interrupted Sesshomaru all of a sudden. "If Rin wants to stay, then she will stay."
Jaken stared at his master in confusion, before following his master with just a bit of hesitation in his steps. Sesshomaru noticed this, and his head turned just slightly to the side so that his golden eyes looked all the more menacing. "I will leave you, Jaken..." this time Sesshomaru's voice was sharp, a bit of annoyance held in his tone as the ugly toad yelped and picked up his pace.
Rin's laughter soon caught up with them, although they never stopped and continued to walk calmly through the forest. Her tiny, cheerful giggles didn't stop until she rammed into Sesshomaru's leg and hugged it tightly. The demon stopped walking to turn his head slowly down to the girl, his golden eyes half-lidded. Then Rin glanced up at him, and grinned a toothy grin before handing Sesshomaru a purple flower. All Sesshomaru did was stare at the flower, debating whether he should just ignore it and toss it to the side, but Rin was giggling and smiling up at him in a way that made him close his eyes in irritation at the warmth she ensued in him. He seemed to always bend at her will, and he wasn't the only one that notice for Jaken scoffed in disgust. He took the flower from her hand with his fingers, placed it in between the folds of his garments, and patted Rin gently on the head. He could really do no less.
