Appearance:
He is a very small youkai. His limbs are thin and short and he does not have very much physical strength. Jaken's head is a prominent part of his body. It is large and seems almost too big for his body. He has no hair, and is basically only a green-skinned Imp. His legs are short and he has only two toes on each foot. His arms are longer then his legs and tipped with three fingers on each hand, sporting a small yellow claw on each finger. His eyes are huge and yellow.

Jaken basically doesn't have a nose. Just a hole where his nose should be, and his face is pointy towards his mouth, while the rest of his head is mostly round. His yellow eyes are big and bulging and resemble the googly-ness of a goldfish. His complection is kind of wrinkly with the pale green skin. Again, he has no hair and instead atop his head he wears a black hat that stays on his head with a thin string strap.

I would NEVER say that Jaken is muscular. His limbs, however spindly and skinny they are, are pretty much wimpy. He wears the tan-brown pants with the slight ballooning effect at the ankles and then the darker brown robe-thing on on top. Underneath he has his white undershirt and he probably has a pot-belly, like most Imps do. So overall, he is a small, physically weak and mostly green.

What's Beneath the Skin

Personality:
Jaken may seem cowardly most of the time. But take a look at what courage is! Courage is standing up and going somewhere even though you're afraid! And Jaken does that a lot! Hell, he follows Sesshoumaru, for crying out loud! He also has an undying loyalty- to Sesshoumaru. He'll often boast about how great Sesshoumaru is, and praise him whenever he defeats a demon. Jaken will follow his master everywhere and will not stop.

This little imp can also be described as Noble. He's had an undying loyalty through his debt to Sesshoumaru for YEARS. But then again, he can also get grumpy and whiny. He basically holds a grumpy attitude to almost everyone, excluding his master. Jaken can also whine 'till the cow youkai come home. But one of the most prominent aspects of Jaken's personality is that his is way over-dramatic. He reacts to the tiniest thing that his lord does or says, or other people do or say. You'll often find him crying or expressing his joy or just simply bragging LOUDLY.

Recently the Youkai lords have taken over the land. Jaken is skeptical at them. He thinks that no one can defeat his Lord Sesshoumaru! Compared to him they are nothing! In Jaken's eyes no one can even hold a candle to him.

From Whence I Came

Not his ACTUAL family but hey, there is some sort of family connections going on there.

History:
Jaken was once a Lord of a whole bunch of Imp Demons on the plains of Musashi. He was fighting a in a war with another tribe of demons, and losing. But just as he was about to be killed, Sesshoumaru showed up, got irritated that the other demon lord was not moving out of his way, and killed him. Eternally grateful, Jaken made all of his followers bow to Sesshoumaru before abandoning them, his followers, power lands and all, to follow Sesshoumaru. He followed Sesshoumaru for days, pleading to be his servant. Eventually Sesshoumaru agreed to let Jaken serve him as long as he could properly wield the staff of two heads. Jaken could and thus began his adventures in following Sesshoumaru! For awhile he spent his time using the staff and trying to find the tomb of Sesshoumaru's father. After they found it, then began the escapades with fighting Naraku and Inuyasha and such. He largely uses to staff of his in two ways to fight. For one, he can make the staff spit fire and his more common method is whacking people upside the head with it.

Jaken always had faith that Sesshoumaru would prevail in all of his battles and most else and so far he has. Even though Sesshoumaru constantly either ignored him, threatened him with death and abused him. Jaken has been insulted, viciously threatened, stepped on, clobbered, had things thrown at him, half-drowned, and yet he still remains loyal to his master. He was initially very anctious when he couldn't find Sesshoumaru. He was also nervous that Sesshoumaru was just testing Tenseiga on him when he struck him with it and didn't know if he'd survive, and surprised and almost outraged when Sesshoumaru took in the young Rin as his ward. Jaken was initially upset and very grumbly about it all. He didn't like Rin. But eventually he sort of warmed to Rin and tries to protect her, if only for the fact that he thinks Sesshoumaru will kill him if he doesn't. Jaken is also very whiney about having to watch Rin constantly when Sesshoumaru goes out.

When the two warlords took over Jaken watched from Sesshoumaru's side, voicing his distaste quite often. Jaken never really engaged in any of the battles or the war itself. He never believed that they would surpass Sesshoumaru's power or even come close. Jaken viewed it as great insult to his master as they pillaged and war broke out. Yes, and he's had a few more escapades of watching Rin as of late, because of the warlord's newly found power.

How You Play

RP Sample:
It had been days now, and he kept continuously on. He was diligently following the tall white figure ahead of him, begging and pleading to be of service to the obviously powerful youkai. The youkai had slain the one who was about to cause his demise, and now he was following him, literally giving up his position of power to try and repay him. So far he'd received no answer to his pleas, but oh, he tried. He just kept on trying.

Finally, he managed to work his way around him and end up in front of him again. He took to his knees and bowed sagely. He asked humbly to be a servant and to repay his debt. The tall white youkai walked around him. Jaken got up and scampered after him, pleading desperately. Finally they arrived at a waterfall, and the tall white youkai pulled a staff out from behind it and promptly threw it at him. The youkai told him that if he could use it properly, then he could follow him. Jaken nodded excitedly and then demanded to know his name. He HAD to know the name of his new master, if he was to address him properly, and it didn't seem like he would be in such a hurry to mention it himself.

"Sesshoumaru."

Jaken marveled at his name. A good and powerful one it was! He repeated it before bowing again.
