JAAKU
Age: Nine hundred and thirty seven :: Physically twenty seven
Gender: Male
Orientation: Heterosexual; although he does like to make everyone, of any gender, uncomfortable with sexual innuendos.
Race: Daiyoukai Demon of Corruption, a hybrid between a dominantly fire and dominantly shadow demon.
Occupation: Lord of KanashiiLooks Aren't Everything
Birthmark(s): None
Scar(s): Numerous battle scars, particularly all about his torso. On his right thigh, he has an intentional scar in the shape of a dragon winding all the way around.
Appearance: Jaaku has a very masculine build, you could never mistake him for anything but one of the worlds most arrogant males. It’s his gait, the swagger to his step, that sets him apart from all the others that most always surround him. His shoulders are broad, muscled from centuries of fighting and hard labor—Jaaku might be a warlord now, but for the centuries that he was building his army for this age as well as even now, he pulls his own weight and takes on more than his share of the work. There’s a reason the men he fights with stay with him. And he didn’t just get his muscles from working so hard, he’s got a very tanned exterior, much more so than your average Japanese person—although he was always tanned, it’s a part of him, due to his fire and shadow nature. Some people say his hair and eyes are the way they are because of his demonic nature as well, but that generally irks him when he hears it, and an irked Jaaku means you just might get your throat cut. You see, both his hair and eyes are a fiery red, his hair having different shades making it up, but his eyes are one solid red, no pupils or anything.
His demon form is large, gigantic and terrifying in one of the worst ways. He’s at least six times the height of the average man, and he’s thicker than you could ever imagine. His body seems to be created almost entirely out of fire and shadow, but this isn’t completely the case. You see, he can extinguish his body at will, and he makes use of this ability quite a lot. He has a physical body, and it’s large, but almost all of it is covered in shadow, as well as fire, and so it’s almost impossible to judge just how large he is.What's Beneath the Skin
Personality: One thing about Jaaku is set in stone; there never has been and never will be ‘one word’ to describe a man like him. He’s not completely psychotic but neither is he truly rational. He never loses his head in battle but he’s prone to random fits of rage over nothing at all. Jaaku is hard to explain, and he likes having it that way, if he found out that someone had managed to sum up his entire existence in one single word….well he’d probably kill them, for one thing. You see, he’s a little bit quick with the killing and slow with the listening. Oh, sure, he can talk just as much as you please; a lot of fighters and warriors aren’t too good with words, but Jaaku can play around with them all the live long day and be just as happy as if he’d spent it slaughtering a hundred slaves. Well…maybe not as happy, considering there’s no blood involved when you’re talking. And boy does Jaaku have a thing for blood. He reacts to it in a thousand different ways, but all of them have one thing in common; the rabid desire for more that’s flickering just behind his eyes. This means that he almost always lives in a constant blood frenzy, simply smelling it will make him want to cut up some poor fool; he really is a good deal insane, more so than your average killer. You can see his psychosis in the way he talks, the slightest hint of mania in his eyes, and in the way he kills. He slices and cuts, looking for the ways to bringing the quickest pain and the most blood, but while at the same time providing a torturously slow death. Jaaku likes to watch faces when they’re twisted and contorted with pain, likes to see the play out of wretched agony on the surface of someone’s face.
Jaaku was not always so…ah, it is hard to come up with a word for what he is now. Once, he had a touch of kindness to his soul. Perhaps the psychosis, the blood frenzy, the overall cruelty, came with the death of the women in his family. But then again, he always had that thing for blood, and he was always cruel. Perhaps he wasn’t quite so fanatical about it. One thing’s for certain, he was never quite so cold before the death of the women—nowadays he’s a thing to be feared. The whores he takes to bed are just as likely to be killed for his blood frenzy’s satisfaction, as to be mounted and used for his personal pleasure. Anyone who begs for mercy before him is more likely to find their head no longer attached to their body—and that’s assuming he doesn’t cut you up just a bit beforehand. He takes no captives; mercy is allowing you to die a faster death. There is no kindness in his heart, no softness to his eyes that would always come whenever he saw his wife and child. Only his brother-in-law is capable of receiving any semblance of emotion from Jaaku, only he can claim that Jaaku actually cares about him.

Being a Part of Me
Items:
- Bracelet that was made by his daughter.
- A Dreamglass1 – A six inch reddish oval gem set in a disc of mithril. The Dreamglass should be held in both hands and the topic of the dream must be formed in the mind. The user will fall in a deep sleep for two to three hours, during which they cannot be woken. There is a 50% chance that the user will have a dream concerning the chosen topic, otherwise the user will have 1-4 random dreams concerning future events. The dreams are often (50%) symbolic and always deeply disturbing. –Jaaku went to great lengths to get this, and got a particularly nasty scar in the process.
Weapons:
- Nigami :: A sword that can be called from within himself when in his demon form, a decent bit larger than his demon form. He wields it with his right hand, occasionally using both hands. The sword has a charred type exterior, most likely because it’s come from within himself. Although, one can only see the charred looking exterior when he’s extinguished it, because the blade is almost always on fire; like his demon form, though, its flames are under his control, and can be called forth or dismissed at his word.
- Fire Whip :: In his left hand, Jaaku uses a whip of many thongs, created entirely out of fire. Laid flat, it’s about as long as five of Jaaku’s demon forms stacked up, one on top of the other. This, like Nigami, is available to him only in his demon form.
- Flail :: Jaaku’s flail was made specifically for him, and it’s personalization is shown. The handle is a good deal shorter than your average flail, and the chain is notably longer than just about any other flail. Oh, and that other little detail, it’s got three chains with three spiked balls. He’s very adept at wielding it.
- Ankoku :: A katana, made partially out of shadows. It has a few nasty secrets up its sleeve.
- Blade of Woe :: A dagger enchanted to always hold a certain poison that can kill a person within five minutes.
- Shuriken :: A shuriken is quite literally, a dagger that can be hidden within the palm. Jaaku carries many of these around with him, of the star as well as the needle like variety. He always has a good amount of them on him, no matter if he’s asleep or in the midst of a fight.
- Wakizashi :: In appearance as well as abilities, the Wakizashi that Jaaku carries is a lesser version of Ankoku. It is always with him when he’s inside somewhere.
Abilities:
- Accelerated Healing – Due to his youkai nature, Jaaku’s healing is undeniably faster than a hanyou’s or a human’s.
- Fire and Shadow Play – He wasn’t always so good at it, when he was a kid he couldn’t make a candle flicker unless he blew at it like a human, but now he could control a forest fire if he wanted to. Fire and Shadow will always do exactly as he says, no matter what it is, if it’s hiding him from the sight of others by making him a shadow, or simply playing with a fireball in his hands while he thinks; if he wants it done, it’ll happen.
- Pheromone Manipulation – He rather likes this one; it allows him to generate and pheromones, which may have various affects.
- Poison Generation – His claws—and when he’s in his demon form, his fangs as well—generate a very toxic poison that, when ingested, will induce various reactions, all ending with death unless given an antidote.
- Evaporation – At will, Jaaku dissolves into smoke. He can stay that way for a time, or he can immediately recalibrate into either his human or demon form.
- Heat/Fire Resistance – He’s not completely immune to it, put him on the sun and he’ll roast, but you know, his demon form is created almost completely out of fire. He can withstand almost all flame.
- Hellfire – A kill-all move, it destroys anything and everything within a hundred mile radius and simultaneously transports Jaaku and whoever/whatever he’s holding onto at the time to the ‘outside perimeter’.
Flaws:
- Fire and Shadow Play – Extensive use of this ability will chip away at his stamina and strength.
- Pheromone Manipulation – This ability sometimes fails to work, depending on the person’s willpower, and sometimes it has just as much of an effect on him as it does on the person he’s trying to control.
- Poison Generation – The antidote will always, always work. The antidote is not, however, something that can be ingested. The antidote is something inside Jaaku, it is unconfirmed as to what part of him it is, or where it is in his body; all Jaaku knows is that to cure a person he’s poisoned, he has to quite literally suck the poison out of them, and it is obliterated the second it enters his system.
- Hellfire – This knocks him out for five days, completely unconscious, lying as if dead. So when he’s transported out of the perimeter, the enemy better be completely destroyed, and someone needs to find him soon. Otherwise he’s just as dead as he looks.
- Water/Light – In his human form, light doesn’t bother him, and water just disturbs him. But in his demon form both drive him crazy, and he can’t use any of his fire or shadow based power—other than Hellfire—when he’s surrounded by both.
From Whence I Came
Family: Takeshi, Father. Yuki, Mother, Dead. Ryuu, Brother-In-Law, Jaaku’s Second in Command. Kumiko, Wife, Dead. Aimi, Daughter, Dead.
History: Some things in this world are absolute, they were destined to be a way and they shall always be that way. Some people were made to be the way they are, and Jaaku is one of those people. He was destined to be cruel and callous, to his enemies. Like Napoleon Bonaparte, Jaaku had the sweetest side in the world when it came to his wife and child, to his family in general, but he was the most hardhearted and blood crazed enemy to ever walk a battlefield. No one ever intended for that side of him to take over him entirely, so that even his remaining family feared the bite of his blade. So what changed him into that? His childhood was neither abusive nor lonely; no one tortured him, the only time a severe punishment was meted out to him was when he showed weakness, and he considered that understandable. I’ll tell you what happened.
His childhood was slightly different than that of your average demon youngling, but it was by no means awful. His parents were not incredibly sensitive or loving, but they weren’t horrid to him. They loved him, in their own way, and did everything possible to ensure he grew into a demon that they could be proud of, a demon that would not just survive in the world, but conquer it. And that’s what he turned into. He and his father were frequent partners in battles ever since he reached adolescence, and everyone could tell from the beginning that he was destined to be powerful, for by the time he reached his fiftieth year, he had almost overcome his father.
Around this time, Takeshi was having problems with the demon family whose lands boarded his. Because the demons who lived there were rather powerful—not necessarily more so than they were, but enough that it would make a battle uncomfortable—so they decided on an arrangement that would ensure no more problems between the two: Jaaku would marry the eldest daughter, Kumiko, who was only slightly younger than he was. At first, Jaaku had absolutely nothing to do with his new wife, he ignored her, spent more time with his whores, generally acted like she didn’t exist. It was only when he had rather extreme wounds from a fight that he’d won—although it had been close—and she took care of him while he was bedridden, forcing him to get to know her and realize that she was actually someone he could learn to love. After he healed, his new mindset towards his wife remained, and he spent more time with her, enjoying her company more and more. Eventually, she was everything to him, and the relationship between the two families strengthened. The alliance was further cemented with the birth of their first child, Aimi. She captured his heart from the moment she was born, and as she grew she only became more important to him.
Unfortunately, happiness was never destined to belong to Jaaku. His attachment to his wife and child was noted by the two family’s enemies, and a battle was staged. Practically all the male demons were gone from both lands, and the slaughter commenced. Jaaku returned home to desecrated corpses, particularly that of his wife and child. It was around this time that his psychosis and rage took full control of him. He abandoned his father’s lands, raging war on everything and anything. Only his wife’s brother was safe from him, and he travelled with him, wanting revenge on the world for the murder of his own family, as well as wanting to make sure Jaaku didn’t end up killing himself. They spent a few centuries slaughtering everything that crossed their path, and then Jaaku spent half a century brooding over Kumiko, and now he’s decided to take over the world. Literally. You see, after sex, Jaaku and Kumiko were fond partakers of ‘pillow talk’, although their talks had more to do with their equal ambitions for more power. It was fun for them to describe how they’d take over the world, what they would do with it. So, Jaaku decided that, to make it up to Kumiko that he failed her when she needed him most, he would conquer the world in her name.
So he’s spent the rest of the time up ‘till now raising his army, sparing the purebreds that agree to join up and killing the others. Of course, they don’t know that until after they’ve decided, he doesn’t want someone in his army that he can’t count on. Through sheer willpower he’s conquered a huge chunk of land, larger than any normal demon’s lands, and has taken the name of Lord of Kanashii. He’s not done yet though, he intends to take control of everything he can, and he won’t stop until he has it all, or he’s dead. How You Play
