Mayu
Age: 46 Years, Physically 11
Gender: Female
Orientation: Heterosexual. She likes boys and may flirt but it's mostly in fun.
Race: Neko Hanyou
Occupation: Mostly roams. She's prone to a bit of thievery.
Looks Aren't Everything
Birthmark(s): N/A
Scar(s): She has a small burn scar on her shin.
Appearance: A medium-sized height and a regular build, not too chubby and not too skinny, but her build is lithe and a bit lanky. Her hair is black and her eyes are a deep blue color. Mayu's hair is styled mostly down but sometimes she'll tie parts of it with bands of fabric. Her skin is fair to a bit tanned. Her claws are a little bit hooked, which helps when trying to claw something or to climb. She stands at about four feet and eight inches. Mayu weighs about 94 pounds and she's not super skinny but not fat by any stretch. Maybe just a little baby fat still but eh, doesn't matter.
Her hair flows down to about her upper-mid back, and it's black and shiny. Her head is heart-shaped and her eyes are big and a beautiful color of blue. Her cheekbones are just a tad smaller then the usual average consideration. Mayu's eyes are maybe set just a tiny itty bitty bit further away from each other then normal. Her chin is small and it's not dimpled. She has a small dimple in the bottom of her right cheek. Her ears are considered pointy, considering they are cat ears. The ears sit atop her head and shine in all their black glory. Underneath her lips are sharp little fangs, good for biting.
On her torso Mayu wears a sky-blue Yukata with darker blue flower designs. The hem ends at her ankles and she wears a simple pair of sandals. Her obi is white with pink lotus designs on it. Her sleeves are long and good for holding certain weapons. She carries her shamisen on her back. She also has a long and black cat tail. Mayu also travels with a small Kitsune named Chu. Chu is orange and fluffy and he has black paws and ears. His eyes are a pale blue color and he has black tufts at the tips of his ears. He can be seen walking with Mayu or being carried by Mayu in some way or another. Chu has no human form but he can talk. Chu is also pretty small(think Fennec fox size.) And he wears a "collar" with a pendant on it despite him not being a "pet."
What's Beneath the Skin
Personality: Mayu is nice, most of the time. She can be considered it, he's just a tad boy crazy though and will sometimes flirt with and tease them. She's not very courageous. In fact, she'd rather not fight. She's mostly the considerate and affectionate type, especially to her best friend and companion, Chu. Although she also loves to mess with people at certain times. She thinks its funny to play jokes on them or make them confused. Mayu is very enthusiastic but not very forgiving. She wont hold a grudge forever, quite the opposite, actually. But first impressions are always important.
This young hanyou also has the tendency to be quite jealous. If a boy her that she feels should be paying attention to her is paying attention to another girl, no matter the age, she can get quite pouty or even a little angry. She might even hit or scratch someone, though this is a more rare occurrence. Mayu is usually pretty respectful of her elders and those of higher rank than her, this is probably a result of her upbringing. She likes to be treated with just a bit of respect, because of the pride of her family. Unlike most cats, she likes water. She just can't swim because she was never taught. But she likes to splash in puddles and wade in streams. Mayu can be somewhat energetic and gets bored easily.
Because her father sided with them, Mayu unconsciously sides with the warlords because of that reason. But now that she's out and about she's wondering if they really are worth siding with. At this point her opinion can go almost any direction.
Strengths:
Weaknesses: - Swimming
- Fighting
- Storms
- She is still just a hanyou, and therefore can never fully measure up to a true youkai. This also means she is subject to the monthly time where she becomes human.
Fears: - Brontophobia- Fear of thunder and lightning.
- Automatonophobia- Fear of ventriloquist's dummies, animatronic creatures, wax statues - anything that falsly represents a sentient being.
Being a Part of Me
Items:
- Pendant :: Mayu wears a blue spherical pendant on a string around her neck that's supposed to keep her inner demon contained.
- Magical Shamisen :: Mayu can play certain songs to make people dance uncontrollably. If she misses a note the speall breaks. She keeps it strapped to her back for travel.
- Fan :: This young hanyou also carries a pretty blue fan.
Weapons:- Throwing Knives :: She's mildly skilled at using them. She keeps them hidden in the sleeves of her Yukata.
Abilities:
- Retractable Claws- She can pull her curved claws into her fingers so far that they look like regular fingers, if a bit pointy.
- Purr- Her purr can make others distracted and sleepy.
- Cat's Eye- She has brief visions of things that are happening far away, close by and sometimes even in the near future. Like, she might know what kind of weather will be happening in the next few days or what types of creatures are running around. This sense is very vague. Her eyes glow slightly when this happens.
- Akai Claw- Her claws not only scratch and cut, they cause burning and itching pains.
- Sticky powers- she can make things like leaves, rocks and sticks, well, sticky. Ever had a leaf stuck to your shoe that you just couldn't get off? Yeah, that was her.
Flaws:
- Weakness to storm and water related magics. She's terribly afraid of them.
- Easily manipulated with catnip. Heh, she is a cat.
- Poison of any kind. She has a sensitive nose and it even hurts her sinuses to be near it
- She doesn't like being around really creepy looking demons. They kinda freak her out. The ugly, gross, unnatural ones.
- Attention issues. She hates being ignored but being the center of attention makes her nervous. Weird, huh?
- Despite her magical paintbrush, she can't really paint anything to elaborate because of her fear of things that falsely represent sentient beings. She can paint some animals an inanimate objects, though.
From Whence I Came
Family:
- Tatsuya :: Father :: Neko Daiyoukai :: Male :: Deceased
- Aika :: Mother :: Human :: Female :: Deceased
- Chu :: Companion :: Kitsune :: Male :: 36 Years
History: It always starts with the parents, doesn't it? Yes, Mayu's mother was a young human, in her mid twenties. She was the daughter of a traveling merchant. Her father, Tatsuya, a cat daiyoukai, was a smaller noble. He wasn't very prominent in the youkai population. He owned a small piece of land. His physical age at the time was late twenties through maybe very early thirties. They met on a day when her family was passing through the general area where Tatsuya lived, and they stopped for him to pass. When they met he barely payed her a second glance. Aika, her mother, noted him and his inhuman beauty, but didn't actually think anything would happen. Her camp was attacked by a bear youkai that night, and it killed her the few companions they had with them. Tatsuya still happened to be in the area, and decided to kill the bear. Unfortunately Aika was the only survivor. She couldn't be a merchant on her own, and Tatsuya felt obligated, since he had saved her and he wasn't exactly a cruel demon, so he took her back to his mansion. Over the course of a few months they fell in love and soon Aika was pregnant with his child.
Their child Mayu was born a few hours after dawn on the last day of the waning gibbous. Her mother named her, and they raised Mayu in a noble environment for the first years of her life. Although she grew slowly because of her demon heritage. She was still young about a decade later when her mother caught an illness and died. Tatsuya and Mayu mourned for her but moved on with their lives, at least Mayu did. Tatsuya seemed less lively then before, although he still tried to raise Mayu with all the love and attention as when her mother was still alive. When she was physically the age of about three, he bought her a "pet." It was considered a lower demon because it had no human form, but it was a small Kitsune. Mayu and the Kitsune, named Chu, quickly became friends. Mayu liked to play with Chu, who was able to use a little bit of fox magic despite not having a human form. He controls a bit of fire, among a few other things. He could also talk.
Mayu was still raised like a noble child, despite the fact that she was a hanyou. As such she was also subject to the nights where she became human, the last night of the waning gibbous. She was given a few magical items and taught the basics of how to use them. When the two warlords took over, her father sided with them immediately, to protect his small family and land. If he sided with them, then there was a less likely chance that his daughter would be taken away and that his title and wealth would be taken away. He was one of their smaller nobles, lending what resources and guard he could to them. Despite all this, he still tried to keep Mayu's existence as subtle as possible. After all, she is a hanyou. But one day, just a month or two ago, he was assassinated by another demon and his mansion was taken over by them. The demon wanted his title and wealth and he knew that the warlords would care little if suddenly a new person was in play on a smaller end. When Tatsuya was killed, Mayu wasn't there. She was playing outside with Chu. When one of the servants, loyal to her family, came outside to warn her and make sure she got out away safely, Mayu was shocked. She fled the place with Chu in tow. Now she just wanders, wondering what to do. Mayu isn't stupid, she knows that if she goes to one of the warlords or other nobles it's likely that she'll be killed or enslaved. She is just a hanyou, after all, and the only thing that was protecting her before was her father.
A wandering life isn't so bad. She has more things to do now and more places to see. She's very sad that her father is gone, but doesn't really see anything she can do about it. Mayu is currently trying to figure out what to do. Stay loyal to the warlords or go against them or just try to live quietly.
How You Play
RP Sample: The sun was low in the sky, actually just about to dip below the horizon. On the opposite side of the sky, the moon, a waning gibbous, was going to rise tonight. Mayu knew this night well. It would be the night when she became human. She was playing outside with Chu, who usually stayed by her side when this sort of thing happened. Mayu was standing on a smallish rock. Bigger then a pebble but smaller then a boulder. It only had room for one of her feet so she made a game out of standing on one leg. "Hey, Chu. Why do foxes have magic?" She asked casually, long knowing the what the answer would be but loving listening to it all the same.
"Uh..." This always puzzled him. "We just do, because... kitsune are awesome." He nodded assuredly and smiled, only to jump as one of her fathers advisers came rushing out. He quickly came straight to them. Mayu noticed him from Chu's reaction and hopped off the rock. The adviser was panting a bit but he quickly pushed a bundle of food into her arms. "Young lady Mayu, you must go. Now, before they find you." She looked at him, totally surprised and curious. She was about to ask why when he pushed her towards the forest. "I've explained it in a note in the bundle! Just go, now!" And with that he gave her another little shove and quickly ran back into the mansion. Mayu looked at him, puzzled. She looked helplessly at Chu. "We should do what he says. He does answer straight to your father." Mayu shrugged an ran off into the forest, Chu following. Only when she read the note, would she know the truth.
Mayu was devastated. Her father, gone? Both of her parents were gone now? It just wasn't fair! Why? Why would someone be so cruel as to kill her father. In truth, Mayu knew why, at least probably. Some selfish youkai wanted her father's title and money. By now, Mayu was already "human," the night affecting her. She burst into tears. Her little Kitsune friend climbed up onto her shoulder. "I'm sorry, Mayu." He nuzzled her cheek and she reached up and clutched him close to her face. After awhile, when she was done crying and left with just a hollow pain, she started walking again. "Well, we have to go. Father wouldn't want us dead, too." She said, bound and determined to make sure that she and Chu survived. She wouldn't lose another family member if she could help it. Not again.

I am terribly sorry it took me so long to look at this. I feel I should've been back Sunday evening to do this, but alas, that was a failure. XD
- I would like for you to mention more about her inner demon, which the pendant is supposed to keep contained. What happens when she releases her inner demon? Similar to Inuyasha in how it's hard to control a slightly altered form?
- Magical Shamisen - I think you should make some sort of restriction on this, such as the people needing to be sleepy, drunk, or something of the sort. To keep her from playing the songs just because someone doesn't want their character dancing (which I can understand) might not be in your character's nature.
- Explain Cat's Eye a bit more. Such things as seeing the future is a very touchy subject for many role plays. Maybe add restrictions to this as well, such as it happening at certain times, randomly, not understanding, or even being completely vulnerable in the middle of a "vision." This is something that, for future things, you would need my permission before "seeing."
- Uhhh. . . . Magical paintbrush? *scratches head* Where'd that come from? Please explain.
For the moment, that's it. I don't think I've missed anything, but I'll let you know otherwise. It's just the above section which is just a tad iffy. Otherwise, your profile is not badly done.

I'd like to add a couple points myself, being the logic nazi that I am xD
First, the two demon lords are at war, so Mayu's father could not have sided with both of them; he would have had to pick one or the other, and by doing so would actually put his family in greater danger by becoming a part of the war, and thus a target of the other demon lord's armies--especially if he was giving them supplies of any type. Even if the demon lords are not prone to strategy--and that's still up for debate--it's simple logic for the enemy's supply lines to be disrupted, especially if it's a lesser noble's estates, which are not nearly as well protected as other targets may have been.
Second, you are assuming quite a lot of the two demon lords by believing they'd accept the help of a lesser demon with a hanyou child--even if he did manage to keep her existence subtle. Although neither of these demon lords have personalities as yet, the fact that they are enslaving humans and hanyous makes it highly unlikely that they would have left Mayu unharmed, and just as unlikely that they would have allowed her father to survive for siding with the humans, let alone have accepted his aid.
The whole idea of her father siding with the demon lords at all seems rather shaky to me. I'm not saying you have to get rid of it completely--although that would probably be easier--but I would like it explained a great deal more in order to make a bit more sense. That's really my only complaint at the moment, so I'll butt out now XD
