Tokage hiked through the thick, lush underbrush of the forest silently with himself. Leaves and twigs crackled and snapped beneath his heavy treading feet. He blinked his wide, all seeing eyes as he observed the active wildlife among him. Tokage smiled hungrily at the carefree blue birds and cute, fluffy squirrels. Unfortunately, he had eaten earlier in the day, and because of his slow acting digestive system, would not eat again for many days. However, he enjoyed imagining the taste of the meals he located during his hike. The blue birds would be tender and filled with flavorsome juices that would swish and swell down his throat as he bit through the feathery flesh and into the succulent muscle beneath it. The furry squirrels would be tougher and somewhat bland, but the fat would work his jaws pleasurable. He wiped away the drips of drool that escaped the corners of his mouth and focused again on the task at hand.
Tokage sauntered forward indefatigably, willing himself towards the cool, satisfying pond that would ease the hyperthermia caused by this dreadfully sultry, summer’s day. With each step, his hatred of the sun and gratefulness for the shade swelled inside him. In his opinion, he would much rather be cold with layers of clothing than baking in the heat of the sweltering sun with nothing. It was in these times of insane heat that the burning sun annoyed him to the point there was no choice but to swim. Several years earlier, he found a place where the water was cool and the mud was thick. Since he discovered this oasis, he trekked there on these scorching days. It was worth the miles traveled just to soak his self in the icy waters.
As soon as he arrived at the beautiful, crystal waters, he scoped the area in paranoia for thieves, enemies, or wanderers before stripping down to his white, cotton undergarments. Tokage dipped his body into the chilly waters and sighed in deep relief as the tar-like mud consumed him and chilled him. He smiled to himself, seeming peaceful and relaxed for the first time since the summer began. His skeletal face, pale skin, and serene expression brought on the illusion of a wide-eyed, drowned corpse that was caught in the mud. If a thief were to stumble upon him and attempt to raid his belongings, they would face a terrible surprise brought about by the experience youkai.

♠ Where the fuck are you taking me? You will see soon enough. The city is the other fucking way, dumbass. And just what the fuck do you plan to do in the city, hm? What the hell would you do when you got there? What the hell do you think? I’d find the damned demon lord, like you’ve been telling me all along. And what then, hm? Dumbass, you’d get your ass handed to you, and then where the fuck would we be? You’ll follow me and we’ll figure out a way to approach the bastard so as to serve my ends, not your damn suicidal ones. Fuck off, dumbass—I’d be fine. The hell you would. Now shut the fuck up and follow me. He hisses, a low, rough rasping of air from his beak, but says no more.
♠ The vulture flies ahead, swooping in low, lazy curves, allowing the ground-bound demon to keep pace, the steady impact of his talons with the ground the music to their travel, their march. But the peace is not to last, never to last—this sickeningly pleasant calm is the food of memories, of nightmares, of apparitions and ghosts—he can’t take the risk, won’t take the risk, must drive it off and drive it back and send it away before they come. A guttural noise pulls itself from his throat, rasps out his beak, and he lifts his talons to the side of his head, dragging them slowly through the rough skin, drawing blood in their wake. The pain sears, drags into his consciousness, pulls at his thoughts, and the memories recede, and the calm pulls away, and he is free, he is safe. But even this cannot last, as he continues to bound after the vulture ahead.
♠ How much damned longer? Quit your damn bitching, you pussy—you’ll make it. Or perhaps you’d rather just sit here and wait for Lys— The strike come with his rasping hiss, neither serving to warn of the other. The vulture has been careless, has not watched him as he spoke, and the talons should hit, have to hit; yet one cannot strike an apparition, a creation of the deluded mind, and empty air alone meets his strike, empty air parts before him as he plummets back to the ground after his leap, and the ground meets roughly with his talons, his body, as gravity takes hold of the wingless beast. Another guttural noise, a growl no bird had any right to manage, tears from his throat, and he turns talons upon himself again, dragging at the flesh of his thigh, seeking the solid hit of a successful strike, soothing himself on the pain.
♠ If you are quite finished, jackass, the clearing is just ahead. Ladies first, pansy. Another hiss, and he draws himself up, and stalks ahead, talons striking ground with unnecessary force as he seeks to shed the frustration, yet it builds all the more. What the fuck have you dragged me out here for, jackass? Perhaps if you’d pull your head out of your ass and look around, you would see. Or smell. He draws breath, gazes around—indeed, indeed, there before him, lying dead within the water. He huffs, a quiet, rough mockery of a laugh, and starts forward. How kind of you, jackass—you found me a meal. Dumbass—look closer. The bastard ain’t dead. Another huff. That can be fixed. The hell it can this time. Pay attention, fucker, he’s got money, this one. He’ll know something. You won’t learn anything useful just by tearing into his head, dumbass. A slow hiss, he pauses, approaches again. Fine then. And when you’ve found out how fucking worthless it is to talk, I’ll show you just what maggots like this are good for. The vulture is not given a chance to answer, for the demon is already aiming a rough kick at the still demon within the waters. ”’Ey, fucker, get the hell up!”

Tokage could feel the approaching figure, he could smell his scent, hear his steps. With each of the heavy steps that drew him closer, Tokage’s body tensed and readied itself to fight. He mentally located his dagger, the only weapon he brought with him, and prepared to grab it, only to realize that it was much too far away to grab it before they reached him. Instead, Tokage grabbed hold of the well-aimed kick with his hand when it came time to. Tokage gripped the foot tightly as he sat up and twisted it. He stared up at Rakesh with his wild, demonic eyes. He pushed the man away, narrowing his eyes and hissing dangerously. 'Disrespectful fool .' Tokage did not turn his back to Rakesh as he lifted himself from the relaxing waters. He rummaged around in his things, searching for his dagger. He grumbled under his breath in discomfort as he felt the mud on his skin bake him alive. Once the stone cold dagger was in his calloused grip, he instantly felt more at ease around this stranger. Tokage did not move his bright orbs from Rakesh as he slid his thumb across the blade of his knife, drawing blood that he ignored completely. Tokage staked towards Rakesh like a beast after it’s prey, until he was only inches from Rakesh‘s face. Tokage laughed coldly, though his face remained cold, and whispered, “ I really should teach you some respect for your elders, brat.” What a wonderful day to be Tokage. Today was one of the hottest days of the summer so far and he had been looking forward to his one moment of relaxation in the cool crystal waters. His mood was already plummeting when he had started his uphill trek to reach his special oasis, and by the time he arrived, he was hot, sweaty, and extremely irritable. It was just his luck that some idiot would disturb him; he almost expected such a thing, but having that idiot attempt to kick him in the head and address him directly. Either this man wanted something from him, or he was a horrible thief.[/blockquote]

♠ Oh, very wise, dumbass. Shut the hell up. He wrenched his talon free of the other demon’s grip, pulling roughly in hopes he’d leave gashes in the wakes of the thick black claws. He stepped back, turning a quick glare up to the vulture, a simple narrowing of his eyes, but it was all he had time for before the other was moving. He glanced back over, followed the other demon’s movements with a cold, calm gaze. See, bastard? This maggot’s not worth worrying your damn head over. If you say so. And when you wind up on your ass in the dirt, bleeding to death, don’t cry out to me—you aren’t worth fooling with. He gives a huff of laughter. We’ll see who ends up on his ass here. The apparition gave an unconvinced grunt, but said no more.
♠ He gave another huff as the other demon came up with a dagger, and his thick, dark tongue slipped out from his beak momentarily as the other slid his thumb against the blade. He lifted the dexterous talons of his right hand, clicked the thick claws against each other lazily, a challenge lighting in his blue gaze. He let the talon drop as the stranger approached, standing lax and at ease, merely waiting. Foolish. Don’t look to me for a grave when he slits your throat. With that pansy-ass little dagger? Perhaps your damned throat would be at risk—not mine. Are you so sure of that? But his words are lost in the noise of the other demon’s, and his charge is no longer paying him mind.
♠ He laughs himself, barely any more than the quiet huffs he’s been giving, extending his slender neck forward to close the gap, leaving his beak hovering but an inch away from the other’s face, parted as though he would strike at any moment. But the vulture has taken action, dropping to perch roughly on the demon’s rounded shoulder, a clear reminder of his own wishes. You can take his blood on your own time, whelp—now you speak. He gives a grunt. Fine, jackass. ”I’d like ta’ see ya’ try, ya’ old bastard. Maybe ya’ can get some tips from th’ other dumbasses who’ve tried that little stunt.” He pauses, tilts his head to drop his gaze to the dagger still in the other’s hand, gives another huff of laughter. ”Ya’ll be needin’ some tips, if yer plannin’ to do jack shit with that pansy-ass little thing.”

Tokage ran his coarse, pale hand across Rakesh’s face, shoving him violently to the ground. Tokage pressed his foot hard against Rakesh’s face before briefly looking over the deformed demon. This creature obviously was looking for something, and had come to Tokage to achieve it. Whether this something be money, or weapons, or even a bloody brawl, he was far from being in the mood to deal with this foolish, disrespectful, and down right disgusting miscreant. It would be so much simpler to run the edge of his blade across Rakesh’s neck and watch him bleed to death. It would be much more entertaining and relaxing as well.
Tokage agreed with this thought silently as he squatted down beside Rakesh. Tokage pressed his foot against his head tighter, preventing his escape while he assessed the value of this annoying bird-thing. In a moment he set apart, in his mind, Rakesh’s feathers, his skin, and his meat. The meat would be his own, of course. He always loved the taste of a good roasted bird. He ran the edge of his knife’s guard around the beast’s beak, imagining the strength and weight of a weapon or armor made from it’s materials. He smiled to himself in his achievements. Such a valuable and unique creature had come to him without prompting. Perhaps, Tokage decided as he angled his blade, today would not be so bad after all. Tokage moved his foot from Rakesh’s head for a moment, which was most likely a dreadful mistake.
((Gah >< I am so sorry about my posts keep getting shorter. I promise that I can do much longer posts than. And if you could, could you tone down the cussing just a little? I can understand that it’s part of Rakesh’s character but could you at least censor it? Please and thank you.))

anyone can make what I have built
♠ And what the hell good will that do, hm? Does plenty. Talking is useless—all that matters is spilling blood, his or your precious demon lords, it makes no damn difference. You’ll get your fill of blood, maggot, but only if you play this wisely. You’ll wind up a rotting corpse if you keep this fool act up—it’ll get you nowhere but Hell. Maybe that’s where I’ve been heading all these years. Why wait to get there now? The vulture shrieked angrily, battering a wing against the back of the demon’s head, and the pain sprang into reality from the depths of his fragile mind. His gaze tore away from the other demon, his beak clacking roughly, loudly, a warning, but it was all which came.
♠ The lapse of attention was short, but it was enough, and the rough shove battered against his face. The vulture leapt from his shoulder, freeing himself from the mess before it began. The demon stumbled back, unable to catch himself upon talons hardly meant for walking, unsuited to flat ground. He dropped, the air driven from his body by the impact. Above him the vulture chortled its amusement, harsh and cold as it watched its charge felled, moving not at all to aid him, merely watching, as always, as always. A guttural mockery of a growl ripped itself past the demon’s beak, cut off by the impact of the other’s foot pressing him down into the moist ground. And what’d I tell ya’ about your ass on the ground?
♠ A rasping hiss was the only answer given, anger building within his light frame, burning away thoughts and logic, blurring even the apparition which circled above him. The sight was lost to him, ignored—he had attention only for his opponent. And, indeed, now this was a fight, and his body tensed in eagerness, anxious for the spilling of blood, for an impact solid and at last real, for the heat of the fight. His beak clacked rapidly, a sharp, rough clicking, the only movement as he waited, bided his time, let the pressure upon his face serve to calm him, center him, and he eagerly awaited the chance to give it back, pound for pound and then more—he’d hardly be indebted to this beast, oh no, and he was never cheap when pain was the gift to give.
♠ At last, at last, the pressure ceased, and he felt the regret flare, brief and violent, as the pain ceased. But it died a young death, burned away by the lust for the fight, for more pain to come—and it would come, oh yes, it would come. A rasping shriek tore from his gaping beak, a triumphant, instinctual noise, as though the battle had already been fought, and won. He surged upwards, threw his arms up, grasping for purchase with thick black talons, seeking any grip he could find, dragging himself upwards, his wickedly hooked beak driving, driving, diving—oh yes, he was generous indeed, and it was time to return the favor.
